Merits Of A Metal Garden Gazebo

There are several different kinds of metal garden gazebo designs. Some of these metal garden gazebos are portable or temporary ones while others are made with wrought iron and can e considered as permanent fixtures of the garden. There are plenty of benefits of getting a metal garden gazebo instead of the stone/cement or wooden gazebos. In spite of these benefits, there are also some pitfalls of the metal garden gazebo.

Benefits

One major benefit of a metal garden gazebo is the lightness and portability that one gives its owners. This is true to most metal garden gazebos that are in the portable gazebo variety. These features (the portability and lightness) give the owner the ability to move the metal garden gazebo around the garden to be able to accommodate various purposes and functions. Being able to move the gazebo around is especially useful when you use it on the lawn. Moving the gazebo prevents the grass underneath it from permanently dying or fading.

Another benefit or advantage of having a metal garden gazebo of the portable gazebo variety is the ease and comfort of being able to put up and take down the structure in a short time. Some of these gazebos are not complicated to put up at all and the owner may not need a step by step manual for this although sometimes it does come in handy. Most metal garden gazebos also have either tarpaulin roofing or polyester. The tarp roofing is better at sheltering from rain, sun and snow while the polyester is thinner and only protects from the sun and a light drizzle. The advantage of the polyester is that it is cheaper than the tarp and basically lighter. The lighter material is easier to put up compare dot the heavier tarpaulin.

Wrought iron, permanent metal garden gazebos are also advantageous to have for decorative purposes. The wrought iron usually works well with large gardens and designs which bring out the beauty of wrought iron. Although, iron is heavier, the fact that these kinds of gazebos are permanent makes it a moot point. If rust occurs, the owner can actually paint it with rust proofing treatment or have the rusted part replaced.

Disadvantages

There are several disadvantages to having a metal garden gazebo. These include the maintenance work that goes with it to prevent or treat rust. Those gazebos made from wrought iron are more prone to this while the lighter portable gazebos are not as sturdy as we would like them to be. These are usually prone to the metal legs collapsing under strain or the structure itself flipping due to string winds.

When Is A Wooden Garden Gazebo Ideal?

Basically, a wooden garden gazebo is ideal depending on the preferences of the homeowner. A wooden garden gazebo may be appropriate for some settings but it all depends on whoever finances the gazebo and where it will be placed. Some architects and designers may deem a wooden gazebo ideal for some settings which have certain factors or it may also depend on the design of the gazebo. Some designs for a gazebo will fit a metal garden gazebo or a stone one while others fit a wooden one.

Designs For A Wooden Garden Gazebo

Most ideal wooden garden gazebo designs are those without any doors. Usually a wooden garden gazebo features latticed sides or walls which provide a semi private alcove for those in the gazebo.  These latticed walls are usually painted white or a light color. Posts for the lattices and as support for the gazebo roof are also some of the features of a wooden garden gazebo. This design has been around for over a century or more and is more favored for houses with a Victorian touch. This does not mean however that these kinds of wooden garden gazebo designs are limited to these houses.

Other possible wooden gazebo designs are the plain four poster one which features a sloping roof with just four posts and low walls. These are the more simple designs for a wooden garden gazebo and variants of these designs may crop up when the homeowner wishes to appear unique but traditional. An Oriental influence can also be seen in some of the wooden gazebo designs. Many of these features Chinese styled roof patterns as well as the interior of the gazebo. Many of the gazebos that are based on oriental designs are placed in Japanese style gardens or Chinese influenced gardens. There are many different gazebos that are reminiscent of the Orient and can fit with plants and flowers of Oriental heritage.

Function Of A Gazebo

Any gazebo functions as a form of shelter from the elements. A wooden garden gazebo serves a both a shelter and as a decoration or a fixture to enhance the beauty of the garden. In some cases, the wooden garden gazebo is the focal point of the garden and the plants and flowers serve to highlight it. A wooden garden gazebo is cool and at the same time decorative. Many people enjoy staying in a wooden gazebo and take in the view and tranquility of a garden.
